There are several community events coming up at the Friendship Center that we wanted to make you aware of. These are not church sponsored events, but might be things you want to take advantage of:
Feb 20-Community Resource Night for Hope and Healing, 5:30-7:30PM. Several local organizations, including The Center For Human Development and the Union County Safe Communities Coalition, are joining together to provide the community information on what's available in La Grande for those seeking mental health and grief resources. We (Pastors Keith and Laura) will have a table to share what the church and faith communities can provide. More information can be found here.
March 1-Fostering Community Lunch and Learn, 11:30AM-2:30PM. Multiple community organizations are coming together to share resources about supporting local youth, including a panel presentation with reps from GOBHI foster parents, ODHS foster parents, CASA, and the Citizen Review Board. Free lunch is provided, but you must RSVP by February 26. More information can be found here.
March 15-Shelter From the Storm Soup Supper, 6PM. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at Art Center East, Clank-Tronix, Community Merchants, and Blue Mountain Outfitters. More information can be found here.
March 16-Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon's Earth Summit, 1-4PM. The Friendship Center will be a hub for the statewide event on community safety and health. Join others from around Oregon to explore how natural disasters affect your safety and health--and what you can do about it. Connect with your community and key organizations. The statewide event will be followed by a local workshop on Oregon's "2 Week Ready" initiative where you can learn to prepare yourself and community for major natural disasters. Pastor Laura will be helping to facilitate a workshop on community disaster preparedness and resiliency. Registration highly encouraged. More information can be found here.
