All Saints Remembrance

At this time each year we remember and give thanks for those who have gone before us, who have finished their race, and who now rest from their labors.

This Sunday we will read the names of those saints who have gone before us who have impacted our lives. For those who will be in worship, you will have an opportunity to write out those names or say them during our Prayer Time. If you won't be with us in person, you can email the names of your spiritual predecessors to churchofficelg@gmail.com and we will collect them for Sunday.

Another way you can honor your family and friends is by making a tribute donation in memory, or in honor, of their life and faith. This is a beautiful way of saying “thank you” to your spiritual predecessors: parents, grandparents, siblings, pastors, Sunday School teachers, seminary professors, youth directors, choir directors, Bible study leaders, chaplains, and dear friends.

Koinonia House Dinner Oct 20

 A note from Eric Valentine:

Thursday, October 20, is the date for the Presbyterian Church to serve dinner at the K House.  We have served dinner once or twice each term to the college students for many decades. We have served anywhere from forty to seventy five students.  As this is the first round of dinners since coming out of Covid, numbers are a little unsure and each church involved in the KHouse ministry is being asked to serve once in the fall and once in the spring.

In the past, we generally served “potluck” style, bringing food from home.  After the upgrade of the kitchen to a commercial kitchen, regulations no longer allow us to do it this way.  All food has to be prepared at the K House itself or in another commercial kitchen.  We cannot take goodies made from people's homes.  Sorry.

To ease into this transition, we are going to get pizza from Dominos, veggies and dessert.  We need to set up tables, chairs, placemats, cutlery about five, and be ready to serve at six, and then clean up afterwards.

It is a fairly simple operation, but this will be the first time since March of 2020, so we will be relearning the ropes.

I would propose that the men of the Church undertake this activity as part of our outreach. We are also accepting donations to cover the cost of the food.  Please respond to Keith and me if you are interested in participating, and if you are available on October 20, or if you can give to this ministry.

Thank you!
Eric

Your generosity is AMAZING! Thank you to all of those who have donated to Friday Backpack as we focus on the Book of Ruth, a story of scarcity to God's abundance.

Let's help more students not have to worry about a scarcity of food when they go home from school over the weekends! We will continue our drive through September 11 where we will bless your gifts when we bless the communion elements.
Again, thank you so much!
