Updated Holy Week information

 Dear Church Family,

Due to a health emergency in Keith's brother's family, we need to make some adaptations to our Holy Week/Easter plan.

The Maundy Thursday service will still be held at 5PM tomorrow, April 1 via this Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86509464656?pwd=MG9ZYmo2YjNiZVFIZU9MamttZnM4dz09
If we are unable to attend, Meg Valentine will facilitate this service.

The Good Friday Stations of the Cross will still happen as planned, from 12PM-6PM. We will get more information out, such as a map, probably tomorrow.

In consultation with the Worship Committee there will not be two services. We will now have one service at our regular 9:30AM time for Easter. We don't expect the numbers of attendees to go over 50 for one service. The Easter service will start outside with singing (with masks), and please bring a flower to put on the Blooming Christmas Tree Cross. We will have extra flowers. We will move inside to continue with our celebration of the resurrection of our Lord. After the service, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt for the children.

If you have not done so already, please RSVP for the Easter service. If you have already RSVP-ed, you don't need to do so again, just note the time change! You may use this form https://forms.gle/ZoCsPaU2sRuHrcMGA and we will get your name on the list. Or feel free to call the church at 541-963-5114 or reply to this email.

We apologize for whatever confusion this might have caused. We hope one service will feel more worshipful, while allowing Keith to travel sooner to be with his brother's family in Colorado. Let us know if you have any questions.

We would also appreciate if you kept Keith's brother's family in your prayers.

Blessings,
Keith and Laura

Maundy Thursday Info

Maundy Thursday is one of my favorite moments in the Christian calendar. The name "Maundy" comes from the Latin word meaning "command," and the service is a remembrance and honoring of Jesus' "new commandment" in John 13:34-35, "love one another as I have loved you." It is also a night of remembering the first Lord's Supper.

This year, we will host Maundy Thursday on April 1 at 5PM on Zoom. Here is the link:
Meeting ID: 865 0946 4656
Passcode: 022553

We will read scripture, share stories, and commune in the Lord's Supper. You will need to prepare your worship space at home with bread and juice. We recommend that you print the liturgy out so that you can refer to it during the Zoom event.  Here is the link to the Maundy Thursday liturgy: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CMoyS2QKHwhI0jnpMKwYDl92nGT3SyMmkWCIZkspwTA/edit?usp=sharing

Let us know if you have any questions. We hope to see you Thursday evening!
In Christ,

Worship Info for 3.28.21

Dear Friends-Holy Week is almost upon us!  Join us for worship this Palm Sunday either in person or online.  If you are in worship, we will take a picture of you with a palm for a celebration video.  If you are in the area and unable to join us in worship, the palms will be outside both doors of the church for you to pickup.  Please take a picture of yourself and family with a palm and email it to us.  Those out of town, take a picture of yourself with any branch and send it our way.  We need pictures by Thursday, April 1 to make the video.

If you are joining us in-person for worship, we ask that you RSVP.  We do this to help monitor our numbers and have a checklist of names.  If you wake up Sunday morning and think, I want to go to church but I didn't RSVP,  please still come!  There has been plenty of room to spread out.  Remember to wear your mask.  You can call us to RSVP at 541-963-5114 (please leave a message if we aren't there), email us, or use this handy RSVP form:  https://forms.gle/DJHar4oWKqUVWFtn6.

You can connect online at www.facebook.com/groups/fpclagrande to watch the service live and you can use that same link to access a recording of the worship service anytime. We are also posting the videos to the church's blog after the service and is available at http://fpclagrande.blogspot.com/

This week's Shalom theme is reconciliation.  Our Lenten journey to the ways of shalom has brought us to the final week — Holy Week. It is a week that starts with the triumphal entry into the Holy City where soon the cheering crowds will become jeering crowds no longer praising Jesus but condemning him. How quickly the tide can turn. And yet, as the week ends with the cross of Good Friday and the tears of grief filling our Holy Saturday, joy will return. Resurrection Sunday comes and we are reminded that in Christ, God was reconciling the world. As we journey through Holy Week exploring the theme of reconciliation, think of the hurts, grudges and hatred that need to be nailed to the cross and laid to rest in a “tomb.” Think about the healing power of reconciliation and where you have seen it in your life.

Please reflect on these questions.  If you are in worship, you may write a word or phrase or other prayer on a ribbon and place it on the Prayer Cross.  The Cross will be placed outside until 4PM if you want to come place a ribbon on the tree then.  For those of you far flung friends, you may email your responses and prayers to us and we will add them to the cross.

This week's Shalom theme is repairing.  In Lent, as we journey to the cross with Jesus, we are reminded that along the way the Lamb of God repaired what was broken — healing bodies and spirits. As we get closer to Holy Week — and to the cross of Good Friday — how can we see the broken world with compassion? How can we stop long enough on the roads we travel to reach out and bring shalom into our communities?

Please reflect on these questions.  If you are in worship, you may write a word or phrase or other prayer on a ribbon and place it on the Prayer Cross.  The Cross will be placed outside until 4PM if you want to come place a ribbon on the tree then.  For those of you far flung friends, you may email your responses and prayers to us and we will add them to the cross.

This week's Shalom theme is hope.   As Christians we hope for things yet seen. We look forward to the promise of a new day. Hope, though, can be hard to hold on to. In the season of Lent, what are you hoping for? Who do you hope in?

Please reflect on these questions.  If you are in worship, you may write a word or phrase or other prayer on a ribbon and place it on the Prayer Cross.  The Cross will be placed outside until 4PM if you want to come place a ribbon on the tree then.  For those of you far flung friends, you may email your responses and prayers to us and we will add them to the cross.

This week's Shalom theme is about healing.   When Jesus first appeared to his friends as the Risen Lord, he greeted them with words of shalom. “Peace,” he said. What he was wishing for them was healing in their grieving and wholeness for their shattered dreams. What healing do you need this Lent? What would it take to achieve wholeness in the life of your immediate family, church community or neighborhood? And do you have the courage to be the one who stands amid the brokenness and proclaims shalom — wholeness — to others?

Please reflect on these questions.  If you are in worship, you may write a word or phrase or other prayer on a ribbon and place it on the Prayer Cross.  The Cross will be placed outside until 4PM if you want to come place a ribbon on the tree then.  For those of you far flung friends, you may email your responses and prayers to us and we will add them to the cross.
