Sunday marks the second week of Lent and we hope you have been able to read along the devotional.  The second week's theme is Shalom: The Way to the Promise of Peace.  Here are the questions to contemplate this week:

-Where in your life can you recall the stormy seas being calmed?

-How did it feel to know that amid trouble you were being held safe and secure?

-Where is this peace that passes all understanding needed right now in your home, community, church or country?

If you are here for worship, you can write a word, phrase or image that comes to mind in answer to these questions and place it on the Prayer Cross on Sunday.  We will also move the cross outside after worship on Sunday until 4PM for those who want to add their ribbon.  And if you are out of town, feel free to email us with what you would like to add to a ribbon and we will do it for you!

This Sunday's questions from our Lenten devotional on Shalom are:

Recall a moment in your life when you received God’s mercy and grace. 

What was the situation? 

How did it feel to know you were forgiven?

 Now think about a time when you withheld forgiveness and when you sought justice on your own. 

How did that work? 

Were fractured relationships healed by your own actions? 

What would have been different if the justice you sought was turned over to God? 

On Sunday, there will be ribbons to write a picture, word, or phrase in reply to these questions to tie to the cross during worship.  Our plan was to place the outside for people to add to it through the day, but the weather doesn't look to great.  We will send out an email on Sunday on what we decide to do.  If you don't get a chance to put a ribbon on in response to this week's questions, there will be other Sunday opportunities through Palm Sunday.  Or you can email us your response and we will add it.

Ash Wed/Lent

 Hi, Friends-Just a reminder that tomorrow (Feb 17) is Ash Wednesday and Lent begins!

The sanctuary will be open from 9AM-5PM tomorrow for anyone who wants to stop in and pray or meditate in the beauty of our sanctuary.

Hopefully you received the mailer we sent out with the sticker of the ashes.  We understand there have been some mail issues because of the weather.  Feel free to display that sticker in your house or put it somewhere you can see it to "remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.  In life and in death, you belong to God."

The other item in that mailer was a tear drop.  Please write on that tear drop those things that separate you from God or keep you from having a full relationship with Christ.  You can drop that tear drop off at the church tomorrow in the basket in the back of the sanctuary.  At 5:30 PM we will burn the tear drops.  Watch us live at www.facebook.com/groups/fpclagrande as we burn the ashes.
