Nativity Show and Tell

 Dear Friends-on January 9, we are hosting a Nativity Show and Tell for our church members and brothers and sisters from some of the other churches.

If you have a nativity or nativities you would like to display, please bring them to the Friendship Center on Saturday, January 8, from noon to 4PM.  We will have tables set up for you to show your display.  If you wish to include a note about where it is from or other interesting tidbit, please do.  

On Sunday, the Friendship Center will be open for people to come see the displays from 11AM-2PM.  Masks required. Light refreshments will be provided.  If you are showing nativities, feel free to hang out or sit near your table to share information about them.

Clean up and taking nativities home will be from 2-3PM Sunday afternoon.

Christmas Eve

 Here is the current information on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, and the services offered.

Prerecorded Ecumenical Service: Here is the link to the service we put together with the Episcopal, Methodist, Lutheran, and First Christian Churches.  Please note that we will not be live streaming the in-person services held at the church.  https://youtu.be/aDJ6nbFjKzA

4:00 PM Lessons and Carols with Candlelight and Communion  This is our more traditional service with scripture readings and carol singing.  Masks are required.

6:00 PM Outside Service  We will meet outside near the corners of Washington and 6th.  Masks are optional.  We will read scriptures and sing carols around the fire.  Bring a chair and a headlamp if you wish.  Dress warm!  Hot chocolate to follow.

Christmas Eve 2021 Options

 For Christmas Eve, we are offering three opportunities to celebrate the coming of the Christ child:

1) We are putting together an ecumenical prerecorded service.  When that is available, we will send out the link and post it here.

2) At 4PM, we will have a traditional Christmas Eve service of lessons and carols with communion and candlelight in the sanctuary.  Masks are required.

3) At 6PM, we will have an outside service of scripture reading and caroling with a fire going.  Hot cocoa will follow.  The service will be located in the church yard near the corner of 6th and Washington.

All Saints' Celebration

 On Sunday, October 31, we will have our All Saints' Celebration.  You have a couple of ways that you can submit names that will be read in worship of your loved one who have entered the church triumphant.  On Sunday morning, we will have a sheet you can write their names on.  You may also email us your names to Pastors' Email before Sunday.

I (Keith) also plan to update the video that was made last year celebrating All Saints'.  If you submitted a photo or name last year,  I still have your photos. But if there are people you would like to add this year, please email me a photo or bring one by the church so it can be scanned and added to the tribute video.  Please have them to me by Thursday noon as it takes a bit to edit.

2022 Giving Letter

Dear FPC Family,

It is time for us to begin our stewardship drive to prepare for 2022.  Thank you for your continued generosity over this past crazy year!

We are trying a new route for you to let the church know your estimated giving for 2022.  You will find a link to this year's stewardship letter.  In that letter you will find a couple of ways to give your estimate directly to Ellen Barton, our Financial Secretary, directly and securely via electronic means.  We will also have Estimate of Giving cards available at the church for those who would prefer to let Ellen know that way.

 Dear Friends,

Join us for worship online or in person this Sunday at 10:30AM Pacific Time as we glorify God together with our brothers and sisters in Christ from the Pendleton and Baker City Presbyterian Churches at the beautiful chapel at Westminster Woods.  There will not be a worship service in La Grande.

For those joining us in-person, we are following the governor's mandate that all people indoors together should wear masks, regardless of vaccination status.  We'll have masks available. We will be singing, but the chapel has a removal outside wall to allow ample ventilation and spacing, and some worshippers can choose to sit completely outside as they feel comfortable. We also ask worshippers to maintain social distancing to help.

There will not be a potluck this year, but folks are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to eat following the service.  

To get to Westminster Woods, take I-84 West approximately 24 miles.  Take exit 234 toward Emigrant Springs State Park and at the top of the exit ramp, make a left turn to cross back over I-84.  At the intersection make a sharp left turn.  Continue straight for approximately .4 miles and turn right at the entrance to Westminster Woods.

At FPC, we review the changing Covid situation frequently, adapting as necessary and trying to walk a fine line between due caution and honoring individual needs. We seek the health and wellbeing of our whole community.

If you are joining us in-person, we encourage everyone, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a face covering or mask. Since we are singing, people should still maintain social distancing to help reduce the possible spread of Covid-19 variants to those who are still vulnerable.  We are no longer requesting RSVP's, but please sign in when you arrive for worship. We are continuing to keep names just in case we need to do contact tracing.
